My dad is a handy guy. He can fix and build anything. He cooks, cleans, grows fruits and vegetables and knows how to raise farm animals. He is the hardest worker I know. I picked up this trick from him. The next time you buy green onions, simply stick them in a small plastic cup, will it up with water and set out in the sun. I've chopped off the tips here, so I could show a more dramatic progression of the growth, but you don't have to cut the green onion when you first buy it. Just cut as you need it.
Here's what it looks like two weeks later. I change the water every couple days. After a couple months, I'm thinking about 6 months but I've never timed it, the green onion becomes less prolific. At this point, throw it out and buy another bunch! Easy, eh?

YEAH!!!!! Thank you Marie.
Just so you know, I got green onions last time I was at the store so I could try this. That looks really neat! If only there was a way to do this with red peppers, which are far more expensive and which I use far more often!
