I Couldn't Take It Anymore!
Three times last week I couldn't fall asleep until 1 or 2 a.m., despite being totally exhausted. So, I did a quick search on the Internet and learned that it's pretty common to experience insomnia in the first trimester. Although, many of the articles suggested it was because many woman take long naps during the day and throw their sleep schedule off. But since I'm lucky to get a nap that lasts an hour and a half, that isn't the case with me. I read somewhere else that it has to do with all the hormones in the body and this makes more sense to me. Anyhoo, I got some Unisom (sleeping pills) because many of the woman said they took these and it helped and also I remembered Joanna had to take these for morning sickness. So, I didn't bother to call Kaiser to check if it was okay. Cause it is. I took one of the pills at about 8:30 p.m. last night and fell asleep at around 9:30 p.m. This is a fairly significant event since I can't remember the last time I went to sleep before 10:30 p.m. And besides getting up to go to the bathroom three times and Caleb trying to wake up at 5 a.m., I slept through the night! I fell asleep very quickly after each of these events! The down side is that there were moments where I was tossing and turning and felt very agitated from intense dreams, none of which I can remember. I told Shane this and he said I was actually talking in my sleep, which I never do. And this is always a scary thing because when you talk in your sleep you can't ensure discretion. But all I said apparently was, "Oh no! Oh no! Oh no!" Maybe I was having a nightmare? I probably won't be using these every night. But I'm glad I have them to fall back onto if things start getting bad again.
