A Sweet Little Ebay Story

About two weeks ago, I wrote a long angry post about how I hated Ebay and I could no longer trust in the goodness of humankind. (But, I deleted it because I don't want to be known as an angry person, since, I'm really not. And I was embarrassed about losing my cool over $29.) I had sold a book on Ebay and gotten an email two weeks later from the guy who bought it. He said that he hadn't gotten the book. And I panicked. Because I didn't keep the receipt from the post office and I didn't get tracking or delivery confirmation. I know, pretty stupid. But I've already sold about 20 things and never had a problem. So, I refunded his cost for shipping and asked him to wait a little longer. About 10 days later, he emailed again and said it still hadn't arrived. So, I refunded him all the money. When I told Shane I did this, he asked why I did this. And I said because it's the right thing to do. If I didn't, I'd be assuming he was lying and I don't feel right about that on the off chance that he isn't. Shane thought I was being extremely naive trusting and nice. I was feeling like a sucker. And I was really frustrated about the whole thing and so angry at myself for not being more careful.

So, today, I get an email from the guy. He got the book! And he wanted to know how he should resubmit payment! Can you believe it? I'm so glad that I wasn't a jerk and assumed that he was lying.

Yeah, it really was so nice that the guy turned out to be so honest. He even ended up paying me extra for some reason. I didn't ask why, cause I told him specifically $26. But he paid me $30. I think he was so happy to have the book, cause it rarely shows up on eBay and has a knitting pattern that he really wants to make.
