The Cutest Burp Cloths

I got the idea to make these from this tutorial on the Moda Bakeshop website. I didn't follow the directions though. I guess I thought they looked so easy that I could just wing it. But, the first one I made was the top burp cloth in the picture below. It turned out to be too narrow. The directions say to cut out a 6" wide piece from the short end of a fat quarter. I cut out a 5" wide piece from the long end of a fat quarter. So, I made another from a 5.5" wide piece and another from a 6" wide piece. I used 0.5" seams.

You can see the difference between the 5.5" and 6" pieces below. The 5.5" is on the left. I liked this one better, so I made the three blue ones with this measurement. I thought the 6" was a little too wide. But, now that I look at them in this picture, I kinda like the 6" measurement. What do you think?

The only thing that bothers me about these blue ones is that the ladybugs are facing sideways because I cut them from long end. I didn't cut them from the short end because I wouldn't have had enough to go the ends of the burp cloth. I did prewash everything and so maybe that is why this wasn't an issue with the Moda Bakeshop pattern. But, I think they'd get all funky if you didn't prewash. I could be wrong though.

Oooooh! I saw that tutorial, also and thought I should make some of those. Nice. I do like the 6" one the best.

Those are really cute, Marie! I also like the 6" one better.

I've been reading, even if I haven't been commenting. I cannot wait to see an updated belly picture!
