South Carolina

Shane's parents live near Camden, SC. Even though the writer's of My Name is Earl claim that the town's setting in Camden is a fictional place, I love to make the joke that it's really set in Camden, SC. And this joke never gets old for me, even though I'm the only one that laughs.

Shane's parents have a 4 bedroom house on 5 acres, which they paid something like $120,000 for. When we left for home, Shane couldn't stop talking about how he wanted a nice piece of land. Unfortunately, that's probably not going to happen for us since we can't help but choose the most expensive areas to live in.

Caleb was in little boy heaven with all the space and two rough-and-tumble boy cousins to play with. And it was like a vacation for us because they just ran around playing, wanting nothing to do with us. And amazingly, there weren't any fights or crying. Every once in while I would grab him and say "Don't you miss me?" and he would squirm out of my arms while yelling "Nooooo!" and be off.

Riding the quad with his cousin Chris...

Playing basketball with Daddy and Chris...

Running...

Playing with water guns...

The Easter egg hunt...

I don't know that I've ever seen Caleb so happy. I think it was probably more fun for him than Disney World. Which makes us feel bad for taking him so far away. But, really, it took us 9 hours to drive down there, so we wouldn't be seeing them very often anyway. But, we'll probably be sending him for Summer visits.

By the way, that's Josef on the right in the egg hunt picture. It was just a year ago that he was living with us and driving us nuts. But he has grown up so much! He's respectful and mature and got all A's except one B on his last report card! What a difference! We're so proud. It's really amazing to watch kids grow up.

Wow, what a nice place to go and visit! There is SO much room and it looks like Caleb had a BLAST! Maybe he can come with Derrek and I when we go camping/off roading it looks like he is gonna love being here!!!! I am so glad you got to visit Shanes family before you left. Are they sad you are moving so far away? I love the picture4 of Caleb riding on the quad the look on his face says it all!!!

I looked at the picture of the kids hunting for easter eggs and MAN that must have been a challenge!!!! No laying them out on the lawn for them, hide em in the forest! Whoever thought of that was great.
