Morro Bay

We went on a day trip to Morro Bay yesterday. We took Hwy 1 down the coast, through Big Sur, but then came back up on US101. It took 3 hours going down there and only 2 hrs 15 mins coming back, but US101 is so boring that it actually seemed longer.

Here are some of the places we stopped along Hwy 1.

Rocky Creek bridge.

Looking the other way (Rocky Creek bridge is behind us). It was really foggy yesterday.

I forgot that Bixby bridge is actually the one that I've seen in pictures so many times. It's about a mile after the Rocky Creek bridge. But, we had already taken so many pictures that we didn't take many of this one.

Did I mention it was foggy? This is looking down into the ocean. That's a huge rock in the water covered with bird poo.

We were so lucky to see elephant seals resting! I was so excited about this because I've never seen elephant seals before. I wish they had been sitting up because the males are huge and it was kinda hard to tell with them laying down. So lazy! They couldn't even pose for a picture? :)

A miracle! Caleb smiling! And I didn't even have to threaten him!

Our view from the fish & chips place that we ate at in Morro Bay.

These guys were hanging out right over the railing in the picture above. The ones resting on the platform were making a ruckus cause they didn't like that one that came swimming by.

The best clam chowder ever! Look how they toasted the bread! Brilliant!

Fish, chowder, garlic fries and bacon cheeseburger! Oh my!

We also drove by a quilt shop called The Cotton Ball. Shane was sweet enough to let me go shopping there. Georgiana was kinda hungry so he had to carry her around and also keep control of Caleb, so I really appreciated it. And this shop was OH! MY! fantastic! The best quilt shop I've been to so far! It was huge! And they had lots of different types of fabric. Standard quilting, plus upholstery, corduroy, minky, flannel, canvas and some stuff that was minky on one side and fake suede on the other. They also had some minky that had a swirly pattern. I could have gone broke in there! I'll definitely be making a trip there again when my checking account has recovered from the Viking Topaz 30 purchase.

I did buy some sale fabric though :) I couldn't resist. I'll post about this tomorrow though because there are already too many pictures in this post.

What a GREAT picture of Caleb and you are right, you did not even have to bride him!! Looks like you all had a great time and GREAT food...I am so jealous! Is this new GREAT quilt shop too far away to go sometime when we come down? How was Ana on the trip?

Kai, it's 3 hours if we take Hwy 1 and 2 hours 15 minutes if we take US101. We should take a trip down there on a long weekend. But, I think you guys would need to stay for two nights. I really want more of that clam chowder!

Ana was great, as usual! As long as she's fed and has a clean diaper, she's a perfect little baby (when we're out of the house that is).
