Labor Day Weekend and A Birthday Cake

We had such a great Labor Day Weekend visiting family! I can't shake this thankful feeling that everything worked out with our move to Cali. Life is so much better with family around. Makes me want to have 10 kids cause I think it would be so great if I had 9 siblings.

I really wish I had taken pictures of our visit to a playground near mom's house. It's the second most awesome playground (after Dennis the Menace park in Monterey).

Caleb really enjoyed playing in Derrek and Kainoa's yard. Especially the pond with no fish :)

And an awesome picture of Kainoa and Georgiana that Derrek took with my camera!

Yesterday was Shane's birthday. I somehow managed to make this German Chocolate Cake from scratch. That's right. From scratch. I actually bought cake mix, but at the last minute decided to make it all my self. It was the first cake I've made (from scratch) and I was impressed with the consistency of the batter, very light and spongy. And the end product was so good! Way better than from a box mix.
