Just a little update mainly for my reference if I ever get around to making Ana a baby book. I've been so awful about taking notes about her growth and development every month. I'm not even sure when her three top teeth came out. I think it was at 8 months. Ugh. Bad mommy.
Anyway, she's 10 months old already. It's hard to believe. She's been pulling herself up to a standing position for a while now, yet another thing that I have no idea when it started. But, she's been trying to stand on her own a lot. She can make it for about 5 seconds.
She's eating lots of regular food, which actually started last month. If we tried to feed her baby food at dinner, she would whine until we gave her what we were eating. Sometimes it's difficult, if we're eating stuff she can't chew. But, we always have rice or potatoes, and some kind of veggie I can mash with a fork. I haven't been teaching her the sign for "more" like I did with Caleb but she's taken to smacking her lips if she wants more food. It's so cool that she's communicating with us like that.
And she's still so very inquisitive! This is a totally new experience for us, since Caleb wasn't at all. She also lets me read to her a little!! I'm super excited about this because Caleb has never ever willingly let me read to him, except for right before bed, and even then it's only because it prolongs the time until actual bedtime. When he was her age, he would crawl around and never keep still if I tried to read to him. I kept thinking I just needed to wait until he was a little older. But... I'm still waiting, haha! The good thing for Ana is that I will likely have a high tolerance if she wants me to read a particular book 23 times in a row, or keeps bringing me book after book after book to read. I've talked to lots of moms who say it gets old after a while, but I've been deprived of the experience altogether, so I will relish it so dearly.
And she's one tough cookie! I'll give Caleb credit for that :) One day, she fell off the couch twice and didn't cry. And when Caleb gets too rough with her, she'll sometimes attack him with her five ferocious teeth! Grrrrr! The girl in her does come out now and then though. She'll whine even after I've made Caleb leave her alone. She'll look at me and whine and maybe because I'm used to raising a boy, but I can't help to say "Get over it, kid!" And she always does pretty quickly.
