West Coast Update 3 and Some Great Drama

Shane got an email from the recruiter yesterday saying that one of the partners is interested in considering him for another position in Monterey! We don't know much about the position yet. But apparently, they are getting more business in Monterey, which makes me feel a little better about moving there. I had reservations because it's such a small job market and I felt that it was inevitable that we would have to move only a few years later. And I really would rather just stay in one place now that Caleb is getting older.

I think he's going to try to get in contact with the recruiter today about it, but it's possible that he won't have time. Things have been really crazy at his work. Yesterday he got to work at 8 a.m. and didn't get home until 2 A.M.! No joke! He worked almost 18 hours. And the really crazy thing is that isn't even the worst of it. His friend had worked the night before. He got to work at 8 a.m. on Tuesday and didn't get to go home until 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning. And THAT isn't even the worst! The worst was this poor guy who got to work at 8 a.m. on Tuesday and went home around 2 P.M. (that's the afternoon) on Wednesday (30 HOURS!!!) and almost got into an accident because he fell asleep driving home. THEN was called in at around 9 p.m. that night because the lady who was supposed to be doing the work had mysteriously disappeared. And his commute is one hour. Since it's only the next morning, I haven't heard what happened to the lady, but Shane is pretty sure she's going to get fired if she isn't in the hospital. Crazy, huh? I have to live vicariously through Shane for some great drama. Lucky for me, I slept 9 hours last night.

It's really too bad that none of them get paid by the hour. But Shane does get to apply his extra hours to take some extra time off next week!

I cannot see how anyone can psooibly work those kind of hours! That is CRAZY! I feel for Shane! I hope when he gets to Cali he can h ave more normal hours. Don't you miss him being gone all that time. I would be so lonely if Derrek had those kind of hours. I guess I should be thankful I only have to work 8 hours in a day instead of 25 or 30. Whoever invented work should be shot.

Yeah, I really do miss him. Caleb helps to make sure I don't get lonely. But, really I think the thing that allows me to handle this so well, is the fact that I worked for a year. That helps me realize that things would be a million times worse if I wasn't able to stay home and allow Shane to work all that he needs. I'm so glad we did try having both of us have demanding jobs, even though I missed out quite a bit on Caleb's life that year. I learned so much about the kind of role I want to play. Sheesh! So serious, huh? Sorry.
