Even though we've lived in the DC Metro area for 8 years now, there are so many things we haven't done. Mostly because the adventure planning falls on me and I'm not all that interested in American history. I know, it's sad. Since we'll be leaving the area very soon and this past weekend was likely our last chance to do something touristy (since we'll be going to So. Carolina this coming weekend), Shane felt motivated to plan a trip to Mount Vernon. It was only a 30 minute drive! I had no idea it was so close.
It was actually very fun trip. We spent the whole day there! But, this was mostly due to the fact that we had to stand in line for 2 hours(!!!) to get inside the Mount Vernon house. I thought my feet were going to fall off by the end of the day. Thankfully, there was a lot of room for Caleb to run around and some boys he found to play with. Here we are in front the house.
And Caleb hiding from the camera while Shane and I waited in line.
And Caleb and I at the back of the house. The Potomac River is the practically the backyard and view was just gorgeous.
About half of the picture I took were of the baby sheep born a week ago. And there were a few more that were 3 weeks old. Too cute!
They had a wagon ride that Caleb just loved. The wagon was pulled by two mules, which GW favored and it made sense seeing how strong they were! You can see the wagon coming up the road here...
