39 Week Appointment

Some how I've only gained 0.5 pound in the past week. Not sure how that happened since I've been eating five desserts every night. There's still no sign of labor and my doctor said that if I make it in for the 41 week appointment, she'll schedule me to be induced on June 26th. But, that is 15 days away, so I'm certain that Ana will be ready to come out before then. My next appointment is scheduled for June 19th, next Friday.

Not surprisingly, I've been really tired lately. I'm pretty much useless after 2 p.m., so I try to get all of my chores and Caleb out of the house for some playtime before then. I was thinking about when I was this far along with Caleb. I was taking two classes, Biology and Accounting, and I was studying for finals. I'm so glad that I don't have to study for anything right now.

I've actually been quite productive though, considering my condition. Well... I'd like to think I'm being productive anyway. Like this past Monday, I managed to do two loads of laundry, wash our bedding and make the bed, clean both bathrooms, took Caleb to a play date, went shopping at Trader Joes, and made a yummy Beef Lentil soup for dinner. Pretty good, eh? I was feeling proud of myself. But, I have to give credit to Shane for really helping out in the evenings lately. He is still putting Caleb to bed and giving him baths and has even been giving me back rubs to help put me to sleep since I've been having trouble with that. I've also been knitting quite a bit. I finished two unfinished projects and am about a third of the way through a super cute hooded onesie with bear ears!

That said... I'm looking to buy a new sewing machine because I have such trouble with the tension on my manual Viking. I want an electronic machine that takes care of setting the tension. When I went to look at machines last weekend, I fell in love with the Viking Topaz 30, which does embroidery! Oooohhhh!!! Aaaahhhhh! And I've been thinking about all the super cute things I can embroider for Ana. But, I'm torn between thinking that I can keep up all that I have been getting done lately and thinking that I will be way too preoccupied to even use it. I know deep down that it's likely the machine will sit there unused for quite some time if I get it now, but I have a tinge of hope that it might actually be a source of escape while I am overwhelmed with everything baby.

Any advice or thoughts on if I should wait or just go for it now?

Wow, it seems like you have been able to still accomplish a lot of things in a day. I am so proud of you, I would probably be completly useless.

As for the sewing machine, this is just adive...I would get it now while you have the chance and then sew when you can after you have Ana. That way you wont have to figure out how to get it later when you are feeling more up to it and then wish you had it! I cannot wait to see whatever you pick out!

Tell Ana to come out we all want to play with her and hold her already! =)

That's a good point about having it already when I do find the time to use it. I can't imagine that it would be one of those things that I would buy and then never use.

I'd go for it if you can afford it at this time. Maybe you'd have a chance to learn the machine before she comes and for a while after when she sleeps so much. The learning curve over, you'd be more productive in small increments of time once Ana's awake more often. I think it's great you've learned to sew and girls are definitely more motivating to sew for than boys as their clothes are more tailored. Enjoy - and Happy Labor Day whenever that happens!

Yeah, I agree with Kainoa. If you get it now, it'll be there for you to use whenever you have a moment. If you don't you'll be tapping your fingers on you sewing table going, "I wish I had a good sewing maching."

Oh and can we see what you've finished making? Is it more motivating to knit there because the weather is cooler?

I'm so surprised you are all for me getting the machine now! I thought for sure you'd all be calling me crazy :)

Jo- what? you want some pictures of my finished projects? ugh. don't you know i'll ready to pop out a baby? sheesh! :) (never mind i spent all that time telling you about all the stuff i'm getting done :) actually, we've been having lots of problems with the lighting in this house for some reason. when we take pictures, there's a random shadow covering half the picture, so it's a pain. maybe i'll take the stuff outside and try that.
