The baby is doing great! We got to hear the heartbeat! Which was unexpected since Kaiser always made us wait until week 12. I'm so glad we did get to hear it because I was a little troubled that the baby looked so undeveloped. Turns out that it's actually a week younger than we thought. So, the new due date is now October 17. I have another appointment in 4 weeks and it should look more like a baby then.
I've been meaning to start taking belly pictures already because I'm already starting to show. I've heard that with every baby, the belly pops out sooner. But at 8 weeks? Even 6 weeks? Oh my. Good thing I'm settled in a good marriage, otherwise I'd be really depressed about what's happening to my body.
I really like my new doctor, Dr. Laughlin. She is nice and seems very experienced. I can hardly believe it, but she'll likely deliver this baby also! She says she only misses one or two births a year. Kaiser was very good for us. I never had any complaints until the fiasco with Ana's birth. But, looking back, my least favorite thing is the fact that what ever doctor was working at the time, delivered the baby. I told Dr. Laughlin about the conflicting information I received about when to get to the hospital and she assured me that wouldn't happen again. She also mentioned that the first baby is always the toughest birth and all the others are usually a quick recovery. hmmmm... maybe I should do an epidural?
