I think she looks kinda goofy in this picture. Aren't the goofy ones, the cutest?
She's 9.5 months! Can you believe it? Where does the time go?
Today is actually a pretty sad day for me. Luckily, I seem to be the only one having a hard time with this. Ana is officially being weaned today. For good.
I made the decision about 2 weeks ago to start weaning her. I've been having a very difficult time recently. Tired and very emotional. I'll even go so far as to say I've been depressed. Something had to change and after talking with my mom and some friends, I thought maybe my body wasn't handling nursing and being pregnant very well. I tried to hold out a little longer for Ana, but things just got so bad, I knew I couldn't wait any longer.
I had been nursing her four times a day. I started by feeding her on only one side for the second and third feeding. After a few days of this, I actually noticed that I was starting to dry up. This actually relieved me because I thought it was a sure sign that my body was ready to concentrate on growing just one human.
Thankfully, Ana drinks formula. I don't know how she does it since I nearly threw up when I got a good whiff of it one day. But, I'm really glad that she does.
I took her in for her 9 month appt a few days ago and I told the doctor that I wasn't sure she was drinking enough, only 8-12 ounces of formula and I was nursing her only in the morning and at night but I hardly had any milk for her at night. And he said "Well, let's see. She gained 1.5 pounds in the past 4 weeks.... I think she's doing fine." haha, I love this doctor. He also said "Babies actually know what they need much better than we do." Love it! I think he's a keeper!
Other things going on with her...
Her arms are now long enough to reach the water in the toilet.
She's still waking up in the middle of the night, but it's less frequent.
She dances... A LOT! She loves music and I'm so happy about it because Shane actually wants to get a piano now!
She loves fish! I'm taking full credit for this wonderful development. I love that both my kids take after me and love seafood. I don't even mind that I have to share.
We had a picnic lunch outside the Children's Museum. This was taken about a month ago, shortly after she got over her 5-day virus where she hardly ate anything and had nothing but diarrhea. She lost a lot of weight and you can see how skinny her poor little legs are.

Oh, my Marie! She is so cute! I love all the pictures. I will be sad the day I fully wean Andrew, too. He is only nursing right before bed at this point, but we both still treasure that time. I hope you find it makes a difference in how you feel!
Cute!!! Her legs do looks skinny, but it's because I'm constantly looking at Anna's and hers are about 3 times Ana'a. HA!!
She is so darling. She is a mini YOU! Right? I think so anyhow ;)
