Strawberry Lemonade Quilt

Once again, I'm so happy with how this turned out. I was a little worried when I had just the squares. I went to a quilt shop a few weeks ago to get the backing fabric and talked to one of the ladies about putting in a border (or sashing, I think she said) around all the squares to make them pop. I thought the pink and yellow strawberry fabrics blended together too much. At first she suggested using green, as my mom also suggested. But I'm so picky about shades of green and didn't like any of them. So, she brought out this blue that I really love. It almost looks periwinkle in the sun. And I picked the red binding out, although I think it's a bit too dark.

I got the backing fabric on sale, but I'm not sure I'd choose it again if I had the chance. The background is cream, while there is no cream in the top of the quilt, it's white. And I think this makes the backing look a little dirty. But, I really wanted to get the backing fabric on sale because the cost of making a quilt really adds up.

All together, I used one charm pack of Moda's Strawberry Lemonade line, 0.5 yard each of the yellow strawberry fabric and pink strawberry fabric, 1.5 yards of the backing and 0.5 yard of the binding.

Now that I've made too quilts, I've realized that I really don't like making the quilt sandwich and hand sewing the binding. But, I really enjoy doing the stippling! You really must try it!

I love it!! You did a great job! I really like the back fabric too, its not too busy and it compliments the front so well! I can't wait to see it in person.
